Striped Bass Surf Fishing
For catching bass in the surf, we recommend a spinning rod and reel combo consisting of a Shimano Spheros 8000 reel on a 10′ Tiralejo rod rated for 15-30lb (model TRS100M2). This is a very versatile spinning outfit and is perfect for throwing big poppers and swimmers.
We recommend loading the reel with 30lb Berkley Fireline Crystal which is attached to a 3ft length of 50lb Berkely Big Game Fluorocarbon leader using a #10 Mustad Rolling Swivel. The small profile of the swivel virtually eliminates any chance of picking up debris.
The lures we recommend for targeting breaking fish are the Guides Choice Slider and Guides Choice Popper. Both of these lures provide incredible casting distance and irresistible action!
The lure better suited for targeting feeding on herring. mackerel, and other finfish is the Guides Choice Slider.
