The rod and reel combo used for fluke was a Shimano Tekota 700 on a Shimano 6'6" Compre conventional (casting) rod rated for 15-30lb (model CPC66MHB). This outfit was loaded with 50lb Berkley Big Game Braid. This is a very versatile conventional outfit and is perfect for choice for fluke when using bucktails up to 6 ounces

The rig also included a 3ft length of 50lb Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon leader attached to the main line using a Mustad Rolling Swivel.

The bucktail was tipped with a Berkley Saltwater Gulp 6" Grub (chartreuse, pink, or new penny) dipped in Mustad Activate Saltwater Bait Enhancer (STBE-SALT). This product is perfect for any soft bait. It is easily absorbed and uses pheromones to trigger the feeding response.

Light Tackle

The rod and reel combo seen on the show featured a Shimano Stradic 2500FH reel on a 7' Clarus rod rated for 10-20lb (model CSS-FL70M). This is a very versatile spinning outfit and is perfect for working light bucktails on the bottom.

We recommend a reel loaded with 14lb Berkley Fireline Crystal which is attached to a 3ft length of 30lb Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon leader using a Mustad Rolling Swivel. The small profile of the swivel virtually eliminates any chance of picking up debris.

The rig we recommend consists of a 3in dropper loop added to the leader 12in above the bucktail. The dropper loop is threaded through the eye of a 3/0 Mustad Bait Holder hook. A spearing or a live killie was used on this hook.

This rig is topped off with a 1/2oz-5/8oz HookUp ST Series Bucktails in either white or chartreuse tipped with a white or pink Berkley Gulp Alive Swimming Mullet. The bucktail is tipped with a spearing hooked through the eyes.
