Three major species dominate the near shore and offshore scene. Blue sharks are by far the most numerous. Mako sharks and thresher sharks are the most sought after because of their size (especially for tournament fishing) and food value. Both species are incredibly good fighters. The mako is the fastest of all sharks and can sometimes leap over 20ft in the air!
