Captains Andy and Rich went up to Point Judith, Rhode Island, to fish for bluefin tuna with Captain Mike Neto of the Adrianna Charters. This location is known for excellent bluefin tuna bites.
The anglers used the Shimano butterfly jig system and Yo-Zuri topwater plugs on very light spinning tackle instead of trolling gear to catch bluefin tuna during this outing.
Some of the bluefin tuna caught during the trip were nearly 35 pounds, indicating a good size school of fish available at Point Judith.
Because school bluefin tuna fights are exciting on light tackle and these fish are valuable to the ecosystem, practicing responsible catch and release helps sustain healthy fish populations and promotes conservation.
