Block Island, RI – Porgy Fishing

Capt Andy and Capt Rich return to a spot at Block Island, RI where they hooked a few monster porgies a year earlier while searching for fluke. Once the current starts to run, the bite really comes on and the guys catch the largest porgies they have ever seen included a couple of fish over 4lbs!

The technique is fairly simple and they use a rig that consists of two dropper loops placed 6 inches and 18 inches above the sinker. The dropper loops are passed through the eye of the hook and then over the hook itself. It is critical to use enough lead to hold the bottom. The bites are typically vicious, but when in doubt a slow lift and set will complete the hook-up.

The techniques in this show can be used by anyone who targets porgies in deep water. If you have questions about any of the equipment used during the show, please contact us.
