The FCA runs the Annual FCA Manhattan Cup, which is a catch and release fishing tournament. This tournament brings anglers from all over the Country to help promote catch and release. Additionally anglers will realize that big cities can support some of the best fishing in the country, and are in need of protection against pollution and other perils on urban sprawl.
The Manhattan Cup has been a great way to bring awareness to the cause, and to connect to the resource. The Manhattan Cup is now one of the largest one-day in-shore fishing tournament in the Northeast. They get over 50 professional fishing guides to provide their boats and expertise to individual teams competing for the largest striped bass, bluefish and weakfish among three categories.
2010 was the Fifth year that the tournament featured a “Live Release Division,” using a “Striper Tube” which demonstrates that Striped Bass can be weighed in and released alive to fight and spawn again.
