Berkley - Hotwire Line Cutter

This is without a doubt one of the most revolutionary tools Berkley has ever designed.

Since braided lines were first introduced into the fishing world, one of it’s biggest downfalls has been trying to cut it. Regular pliers get the job done but that’s really only when their brand new, and still they can leave an uneven cut and the tag end begins to fray almost instantly.

They boys at Berkley have solved this issue with the Hotwire. It’s an electric line cutter that uses a heated tungsten tip to cut through the line with ease. The tip fully retracts when not engaged making it virtually impossible to cause harm to the tip or yourself. Instead of trying to cut the braid with an open flame and worrying about destroying the knot you can now cut at the exact spot that you want and nothing more. It literally sears the line leaving a clean cut on the end without any fraying.

We demonstrated it’s capabilities against 130lb Braid and 400lb Fluorocarbon.
