Striped Bass FishingThe May 12 striped bass fishing trip to Hartford, Connecticut was quite an eye opener! Andy and Rich thought that their guest, Jordan Paullo, had built up this bite to the point where there was no way it would ever match their expectations. They were wrong! Even before they arrived at the spot, birds were seen working over the teen size stripers blowing herring and alewives right out of the water. They had an overcast sky and the bite continued throughout the day. Nearly all of the action was on surface plugs and the strikes were incredible with fish up to 20lbs.

“The stripers were crashing bait everywhere we looked.  However, bait fishing in that part of the river is not allowed and we were forced to throw poppers.  It was tricky because we had a position the boat where we could make an effective cast before the fish moved on.  The river was full of snags and rocks so we needed to be very careful when we made each move.  It was some of the most challenging striped bass fishing we had ever done, but it was worth it!” Capt Andy LoCascio
